Mr Farmer Enjoys His Vacation

Mr Farmer also took his four wheeler on our weekend trip. He took it out a couple of times. One time I encouraged him to go without the kids and me so he could ride hard. We hold him back from riding like that and sometimes he needs to wear off some excess energy.

Then, a couple of times he took it out while the rest of us rode on the Ranger.

One one such ride, he did a few jumps so I could take pictures. I apologize for the blurriness. It's hard to get a photo of someone racing by the camera.

And on the next trip, he took to the water for his fun.

I'm glad he got to enjoy himself.

The Tower

One of the new things at Soggy Bottom this year was their tower. This tower was available to camp in.

Or, if you bought a t-shirt, you could go up in it as many times as you liked. Once was enough for us as one or two of the kids didn't care for the heights part of it.

While up there, we took the opportunity to take a few pictures of the land around it. There are several ponds/ wetlands used for duck hunting in the fall and winter. You could see the trails. It was a really cool view.

The Flip Flop Fiasco

A funny thing happened the other day during our Memorial Day weekend trip. We took the Ranger down to the creek so the kids and Buddy could cool off in the water.

The nice thing about this creek is that the bottom is sand and rock, not mud. Before we realized it, the kids had taken off their shoes and set off to explore.

Once I saw this, I told each of them to put their flip flops back on so they didn't get hurt if they stepped on a rock or stick or piece of metal. Every one of them grumbled and complained, but obeyed.

But then, Baby kept losing hers off her feet every single step she took. Still, I held my ground and she plodded on.

Then, it happened. She went to the bank to play and found the only mud in the creek. Her flip flop sucked right off her foot and buried itself into the muck. I sent her siblings to help look for it. She was feeling around and exclaimed loudly, "I found it! I found it!"

The Boy starts laughing. "That's my foot," he told her.

Then Sissy joined the search. They all felt around in the mud for the missing flip flop.

Sissy yells out, "I found it! I found it!"

The Boy starts to laugh again. "That's my foot," he told her.

Finally Baby finds her flip flop and holds it triumphantly.

Redneck Fun

I know I've done a lot of posts about our Memorial weekend, but  I could never have fit all the fun and photos in one or two posts.

This post is about some redneck fun some of the other campers came up with. And had we not just cleaned up and dried off from the creek, we would have joined in, too.

First was the mudslide.

And next, was the ride they made with a found piece of plywood. They came across the plywood by the creek and decided to ski on it. they hooked a rope to it and to the back of a Razor and pulled the skiers.

Maybe next time we'll join in.

My Flower Gardens--2nd Post For The Day

When I looked out the window today, I saw that I had some painted daisies blooming. I didn't even know they were growing yet!

My hardy geranium is huge this year.

Asiatic lilies and hostas on the side of the house.

A couple of chickens in the gardens.

A couple of varieties of peonies. The bushes are huge this year!

My red variegated weigela.

My rose bushes are the fullest I've ever seen them with buds.

Baby's lone flower she had to buy with her own money and  plant by herself.

The Trails

It's hard to describe the beauty of this park. And you get to ride right through it.

There is a large, beautiful creek and a trail that runs along its banks. It has small caves, rocks, and gorgeous trees.

The trails go through lots of timber, up steep hills, between trees and through the mud.

The danger sign was because the trail went so close to the edge of a cliff that dropped down to the creek.

The photos don't do these trails justice! We often would just turn off the engine and sit and enjoy the sounds of nature and the beauty around us.
