A Request From An Aunt

Lately I have been asked by a wonderful, most special aunt that I post something. Anything. She likes my blog for some reason which is beyond my understanding. I think it may give her things to make fun of me for. Like she needs more ammunition. I'm a dork. And I don't hide it well. In fact, I don't even try to hide it.

Anyway, she wanted a post done on our Christmas tree. We went on our annual family trek to get our snowman ornaments. These are the ornaments from this year.

The Boy's

Mr Farmer's and Mine. Mr Farmer made them hold hands. ☺

Sissy's. Sshhhh, don't give away her name.

Baby's. It has red and blue led lights that flash and light up the "ice".

And finally, our tree.

All our presents are bought, mostly online, and the kids are dying. I still have to wrap most of them, though. Our one and only party was last weekend. Mr Farmers employer paid for a nice dinner and overnight stay at a nearby resort. It was a fun weekend!

Are you getting prepared for Christmas?

  1. How pretty! I haven't even begun. Life got in the way. Granddaughter got a mobile home (a good buy) and it is filthy. My days are being spent as a cleaning lady, so she can spend her time tending to a new baby. I may have to skip decorating this year! Oh, I suppose I can drag in a tree, but it might not get ornaments, LOL!

    1. My house is a disaster, Granny! Will you come clean mine, too? I'm glad your granddaughter has you to help. I can see how Christmas decorating could go by the wayside. My kids brought all of mine up and would have set everything out, if I had let them.

  3. Pretty tree. I have not put mine up yet. We are in smaller house now so I am either going to use my oldest girl's skinny but tall apartment tree or the table top 3ft tree my mother had for years. She has downsized to a 1 1/2 ft tree. Daughter is going to take my old tree to put up which is quite big and full as that is the tree we used in that house (that she lives in now) for years.

My mother collected Santa ornaments over the years and has a huge collection. I always looked for bird ornaments. I like the old German ornaments that are so delicate and pretty and breakable. We don't have house cats so never worried about them breaking. But daughter discovered her cats inside her tree removing ornaments to play with. So hope she does not put up the breakable ones.

Annie Granny, I know what you mean about life getting in the way. Our 20 year old fridge is acting up...I normally would have lots of cookie dough mixed up and stored for baking as needed but not sure about what to do now. It is hovering at 40F which is not cold enough. We have an outside fridge that is in the breezeway but anything out there would freeze solid now. Husband wants to fiddle with the fridge a bit longer. I wonder if we should just give in a get new one and say Merry Christmas to us. Plus it's Thursday now, I don't want it going out totally on the weekend.

    1. Sounds like a perfect Christmas gift to me! We usually tend to find ourselves buying those big items around the holidays.

  4. Beautiful ornaments, beautiful tree! I love Mr. Farmer's and your's ornaments and love that Mr. Farmer made them hold hands. lol My Mr. Farmer would have done the same thing. I also love, love that big beautiful tree! I wish I could have a tree that big. I chose to use the tiny one this year, a 4 ft one in the bay window. With our 6 boys home with their families/girlfriends we needed the floor space. I wish I had a nice big living room like yours, but my is tiny. And with 17 people in the house-well we were all but on top of each other. lol And with the small tree the grandkids had more room to play as well. Was your tree real or artificial?

    1. I would have done the same thing with that people in my house. Our tree is artificial so I get to have a perfect tree every year. It's also prelit so we don't have to mess with stringing lights anymore.
