Bedroom Makeover- A Primitive Affair

I decided to make over my room. Mr Farmer gave me the ok, within reason. And I had a reason for everything I bought.

While I waited for things to arrive in the mail, I tackled refinishing my night stands. I will do another post with more in depth information on the process.

They turned out so much nicer than I even thought they would. Mr Farmer was definitely impressed with them.

I brought in an old window sash from the old barn we tore down and an antique desk I was given a while back. I arranged some things I bought, along with some things I had, and dressed up a bare corner of the room.

It turned out cute, I think.

Next, I added some things to the top of the dresser, night stands, and a bench Mr Farmer built me for the makeover.

We rarely use lamps on the night stands, so I replaced them with these decorative candles.

Mr Farmer's is the brightest and plugs in.

Mine is battery operated. It doesn't give off a lot of light, but I almost never use a lamp on my side of the bed.

And finally, my new bed and quilt.

I added some burlap-look curtains to the windows. And there you have it.

The beam on the wall is just a piece of some heavy-duty crating materials Mr Farmer got from work years ago. We put it on the wall to make a mantel. On top of it, we place our family photos and a couple of antique crocheted butterflies that I framed. Under it, I did some faux stone painting. The stone painting and mantel were done years ago, but still look good with my makeover.

  4. It looks wonderful! That's one of the downsides to living overseas and in rentals I don't get to decorate like I used too! But it gives me something to look forward to when we move back. I'll have to look back through your posts for inspiration. :)

    1. I decided to try and stick to decorations and furniture (stuff that could go with us) rather than doing any more permanent decorating at this point. Things are looking a bit more permanent again, but we were iffy there for a few months. We'll see, I guess. Good to hear from you again!
