Tomatoes!

Last week I picked one of my Oxheart tomatoes. I sliced it open to this.

It looks exactly like a heart. A gardener's valentine!

These next pictures are of my harvest yesterday. All are from my four Oxheart plants!

Look at how big this one is!

They have very little seeds and so much meat! Such wonderful tomatoes. My favorite so far for yield and taste. They are perfectly sweet and juicy!

  1. I hate you. OK, I don't really, but I'm envious of your tomatoes. Trade for onions?

    1. Sure!

Mr. Farmer told me today that several guys from work are asking to buy tomatoes. I'm going to send in some cherry tomatoes tomorrow for them to snack on. I don't know if I want to sell them. I plan on eating them and freezing the rest.

  2. Hi, I found your site from another farm blog I was looking at. I am always looking for other farmers who blog in Iowa because I also own a farm in Iowa by the town of Lucas and I also blog. I always like to see what others there raise and grow to get ideas for my farm. My wife and I still live in the city of Chicago and have no farming experiance but are trying to educate ourselves before we retire there in 3 years by reading lots of farm books and blogs. I look farward to following your posts. I am also envious of your tomatoes, I have a few that are starting to show a little red, but not close to yours.

    Best Regards,
    Gordon

    1. Hello, Gordon! Welcome to my blog. We live not too far from your farm in Lucas (about 45 miles). How exciting to hear from someone else in Iowa-- or going to be. A great, but not Iowa, blog on gardening is Granny's. She always has an awesome garden and is a great resource of information. You can find her blog on my first post or most of the comment sections.

Again welcome, and thanks for stopping in. I look forward to getting to know a fellow Iowan farmer.
